ICEHOTEL Northern Lights Break

This great value for money package is perfect for those wanting to make the most of their visit to Sweden’s famous ICEHOTEL and to see the natural phenomenon that is the Northern Lights.

We have included an introductory Northern Lights Photographing Tour – suitable for beginners. Arranged for the first night you arrive, you can then use the skills learned for the remainder of your trip. Also included is the existing Northern Lights by snowmobile excursion, a thrilling ride through the wilderness in search of the Aurora Borealis.

You can of course adjust this itinerary to meet your requirements subject to the various elements being available.

Day 1:
Fly from London to Kiruna via Stockholm (Stop-over in Stockholm can be added if you wish).  Meet your transfer which will take you to the ICEHOTEL (approx 15 mins). Enjoy a complimentary orientation tour of the ICEHOTEL (subject to arrival time). Settle into your warm accommodation (Kaamos room, Arctic Chalet or Nordic Chalet).

This evening you will embark on a special Northern Lights Photography Tour. (No experience necessary, perfect on your first arrival evening and for those of varying experience including beginners). Travel to hidden places in the wilderness around the village of Jukkasjärvi – away from the intruding electric lights of human civilisation, the conditions for catching the lights are at their best.

While we wait for the Aurora to make her appearance on the night sky, your guide takes you through the basics of night time photography and capturing the Northern Lights on camera.

Day 2:

Enjoy breakfast in the ICEHOTEL restaurant.

This morning why not choose an optional excursion, we recommend the Trap Line dog sled tour (around 4 hours). After meeting your team of huskies at the kennels, you will depart for a tour of the surrounding Arctic wilderness. Watch the white landscape glide past from your seat or from the mushers/driver’s position – It is a truly wonderful experience. Light refreshments will be served in a wilderness hut whilst the guide tells stories about the huskies and the traditional way of light and survival techniques used in the area. It is possible to take a short snow shoe walk in the surroundings of the hut.

Afternoon at leisure to explore the Ice Hotel and local surroundings (or add-on an optional excursion of your choice – click here for more details.

This evening experience the thrilling Northern Lights by Snowmobile tour which lasts approx 4 hours and includes a traditional evening meal and a Northern Lights slide show before you depart.

More time for you to seek out the Northern Lights and use your photography skills learnt last night.

Tonight you will spend your second night in your warm accommodation.

Day 3:

Enjoy breakfast in the ICEHOTEL restaurant.

Today you have time to yourself to explore the local area. Visit the local church and Sami museum or if you prefer book onto one of the optional excursions – click here for more details. We recommend the Ice Culturing class firth thing in the morning.  If you want to be pampered there is a spa in Kiruna we can recommend.

Tonight is the highlight of your trip, you opportunity to sleep on ice. We have included an Ice Room but we do recommend an Art Suite, especially if it is a special occasion.

Day 4:

After the experience of sleeping on ice, you are awoken with a mug of hot lingonberry juice ready for breakfast.

A final opportunity to enjoy the sights of the ICEHOTEL before you depart for your journey home (if departing on a later flight why not enjoy another excursion).
